What Is The Difference Between Renovation and Restoration?
4/25/2023 (Permalink)
SERVPRO is one of the top leading restoration companies in the U.S. We have restored homes and businesses after water damage, storm damage, fire damage, and even mold remediation. But, what is the difference between renovation and restoration? Simple.
Renovation
Renovation is hiring contractors to come to your home or business and update whatever you feel needs updating. It essentially makes the building look new and more modern (if that’s your goal). Some people still live in the same house they did in the 70s, and we all know the 70s design isn’t exactly what we want to see these days. So, that person would reach out and have a company renovate their home to look new and trend more with the times.
Restoration
Restoration involves returning a building to its former state. So, if your home or business fell victim to storm damage, flooding, or a fire - a team like SERVPRO would come in and restore it back to how it was before - “like it never even happened.”
Residential Services
SERVPRO of Aberdeen/Holmdel provides many residential services. These include restoration services like water damage restoration, fire damage restoration, mold remediation, and storm damage cleanup.
We also provide residential cleaning services that include air ducts & HVAC cleaning, biohazard, carpet & upholstery, ceiling/walls/hard floors, drapes & blinds, odor removal & deodorization, sewage & toilet overflow, trauma & crime scene, and finally vandalism & graffiti. Yes - we do ALL of this.
Commercial Services
In addition to residential services, we also offer commercial services. We’ll help small office buildings, large/high-rise office buildings, apartment buildings, restaurants, hotels/motels, small retail stores, large retail/big-box stores, high-rise residential, manufacturing & industrial, and government/military.
Also, we’ll cover commercial water damage restoration, fire damage restoration, mold remediation, and storm damage cleanup - all with our disaster recovery team.
Every commercial property experiences wear and tear, including dirt and grime that accumulates from ordinary use. You can count on us to make your workspace look its very best with our cleaning services. Professional cleaning helps to protect your carpet and upholstery and increase its life-span.
We’ve helped hundreds of businesses to reopen rapidly and look their best after a disaster takes place. We have also worked to provide in-depth cleaning solutions that improved the appearance of body shops, schools, car dealerships, doctor offices, office buildings, and many others. We’ll clean carpets, remove stains, eliminate odors, and address any other issues you might have with the look or functionality of your building.
We hoped this helped and if you need a restoration or cleaning done to your home or business, please reach out.

How to Prevent Frozen Pipes
10/24/2018 (Permalink)
As the temperatures drop in winter along the east coast, water becomes a threat to homes and businesses. Water expands as it freezes, placing tremendous pressure on whatever is containing it, including metal or plastic pipes. If you have leaking pipes or an inefficient heater, you can end up with a frozen mess—and serious repair costs.
Ways to Keep Pipes from Freezing
Before the onset of cold weather, protect and prevent frozen pipes with these tips:
- Insulate any exposed pipes in your home, paying special attention to unheated ones that may be in your crawl space, basement, garage, and under kitchen or bathroom cabinets.
- Maintain the same temperature during daytime and the day and at night. If you raise the temperature when the sun sets, you risk frozen, bursting, and leaking pipes.
- Close indoor values that supply water outdoors and open the outside value to properly drain excess water that may be in the pipes.
- Consider the benefits of efficient heater By combining proper equipment maintenance and upgrades with insulation, air sealing, and thermostat settings, you can help prevent frozen pipes.
- In dangerously low temperatures, let your faucet trickle. While you may be concerned about wasting water, running water is more likely to keep pipes from freezing.
- Remove, drain, and store outdoor hoses, and outside valves open so that any water.
- Going on vacation? Leave the heat on and set to a temperature no lower than 55° F. This is another one of the benefits of efficient heater systems that allow for smart controls.

Duct Cleaning
